The CSCE Calgary Section organised a technical dinner presentation on “A Structural Engineer’s Introduction to Embodied Carbon” presented by Chris Weckesser.
The Civil Engineering – Schulich School of Engineering, Civil Engineering Undergraduate Society (University of Calgary) and CSCE Calgary Section jointly organised the popsicle bridge competition followed by a technical presentation.
19 student teams came up with innovative bridge models which were tested against the loadings and judged by the engineers from RJC Engineers and the University of Calgary. Kudos to the winning teams. Jonathan Canales from Aecon Group Inc. presented useful information related to the “Deerfoot Trail Improvement Project”.
The Civil Engineering – Schulich School of Engineering and the University of Calgary organised a “Student Poster Competition”. 9 students presented their research work along with a detailed presentation on BMO Centre, Calgary by Annelise Loczy, P.Eng. and Geoff Kallweit (he/him/his). On behalf of the CSCE Calgary Section, Prof. Muntasir Billah, PhD, P.Eng., Prof. Jacob S Lamb and Jigar Mokani, MESc, EIT attended this event.
The posters were judged by Annelise Loczy, P.Eng. and Geoff Kallweit (he/him/his) and the winners are as follows.
First place – Ishpreet Singh Kapoor, Second place – Lin Wang, MSc, EIT, People’s Choice Aware – Shanjida Khan, E.I.T.T
The Women in Consulting Engineering Calgary organized an event “Women in Engineering Day Celebration”; CSCE Calgary Section collaborated, and Jim Gilliland, PhD, P.Eng., FEC, FGC(Hon.) FCSCE and Jigar Mokani, MESc, EIT attended this event for enhancing the overall reach with the industrial individuals.
On May 16, CSCE Calgary Section organised a technical presentation on “Bow River Bridge”. We would like to thank Er. Andrew Boucher from the Stantec team, Calgary for sharing some essential design and construction details related to the project.
